Forget about complicated makeshift solutions—with these methods and technologies, you can efficiently take care of your home, workshop, and garden.
Smart Repairs
When Tape Replaces Tools
Modern technical tapes have long since surpassed the capabilities of ordinary electrical tape. Thanks to their high tensile strength, extreme adhesion, and UV stability, they can solve problems that previously required a complete replacement or complicated installation.
- Repairing insect screens: You don’t have to replace the entire screen if it’s torn. Special repair tape with an integrated 70-fiber fabric mesh ensures immediate strength. Thanks to its UV stability, it won’t yellow over time or peel off.
- Drill-Free Installation: NanoGrid double-sided tape securely attaches decorations to smooth interior surfaces without damaging the substrate. For demanding tasks in the workshop, use the reinforced double-sided DUCT tape.
- Quick waterproofing: Translucent tape reliably repairs cracked polycarbonate or glass. You can fix a small crack in a pool with strong, specialized tape that can be applied directly underwater.
- For emergencies: Unlike conventional tapes, self-vulcanizing tape does not rely on an adhesive that softens in heat and humidity. Once stretched and wrapped, it bonds on its own to form a compact, airtight, and watertight layer. A burst hose or damaged cable insulation won’t catch you off guard anymore.
Outdoor Lighting
Safety and the Right Balance
When choosing outdoor lighting, look for a balance between functionality, safety, and energy consumption. All EMOS garden lights have an IP44 rating, so they reliably withstand rain and splashing water.
- Driveways and Gates: LED floodlights with motion sensors safely illuminate key access routes. Solar-powered models operate independently of your home’s electrical system, which greatly simplifies installation.
- Patios and functional areas: Pole or wall-mounted lights define the look of your exterior. You can set the mood by choosing the right bulb: warm white is ideal for relaxation areas, while neutral or cool white is best where you need brighter light for work.
- GoSmart Smart Lighting: Allows you to adjust the intensity and color of the light directly from your phone. This makes it easy to tailor the lighting for a garden party or a quiet family dinner.
- Working After Dark: If darkness catches you while working late in the workshop or in the garden, rely on headlamps or professional work floodlights with a luminous flux of up to 2,000 lm.
Energy Distribution
Safe Use in the Garden
Operating powerful machines, such as lawn mowers or branch shredders, requires durable power supply components. When choosing an extension cord for outdoor use, it’s not just the length that matters, but above all the insulation material.
- Cable reels and connectors: Choose cables with rubber or neoprene insulation. They remain flexible even at low temperatures and safely withstand moisture. Important rule: When working with high-powered machines, always fully unwind the cable from the reel to prevent it from overheating and becoming damaged.
- Permanent outdoor outlets: If you spend a lot of time in the garden, outlet posts with IP44 protection integrated near your patio or flower beds will save you the hassle of constantly unrolling extension cords. However, always have a professional handle the installation.
What does the IP rating mean?
You may have noticed that outdoor products often carry the abbreviation IP followed by two digits, such as IP44. This code indicates the product’s IP rating, which describes how well the device is protected against the ingress of solid particles and water. The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid particles, while the second indicates the level of protection against water, which is particularly important for outdoor use.
In practice, you will most commonly encounter the following IP ratings:
- IP20 – suitable only for dry indoor environments, with no protection against water.
- IP44 – suitable for outdoor use and protected against splashing water.
- IP65/IP67 – a high level of protection against water jets or temporary immersion in water.
EMOS GoSmart Automation and Security
Smart technology lets you keep your home and garden under control, whether you're at work or on vacation.
- Wireless Doorbells and Cameras: Outdoor IP cameras and video doorbells detect motion in the monitored area, recognize human figures, and send an immediate notification to your cell phone. They save recordings to an SD card or secure cloud storage.
- Smart irrigation: Simply connect the GoSmart series automatic valve to your garden faucet. Then, use the mobile app to set precise watering schedules for your lawn and flower beds. You can configure the entire system in just a few minutes via Wi-Fi, without any complicated programming.
Smart watering
Take the hard work out of watering
Keeping your garden green during summer heat and dry spells does not have to mean spending hours watering or carrying heavy watering cans. The key to saving time, water and money is automation with a smart watering timer.
Using the mobile app, it automatically provides optimal watering in the morning or evening, responds to the weather forecast and can be controlled from anywhere using your mobile phone.
Simply connect the GoSmart automatic valve to your outdoor tap. You can then use the mobile app to set precise watering schedules for your lawn and flower beds. The entire system can be configured in just a few minutes, without complicated programming.
